Introducing 'Route 57' – a drive across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland in support of seriously and terminally ill children, teens and adults
I am Officer Bella, a Dachshund born the 23rd January 2021 who was rehomed by Support Vehicle in February 2023.
I like nothing more than calling shotgun when traveling in my American Police Interceptor, however, I freely give up the front seat to other Officers and seriously and terminally ill children, teens and adults so they can enjoy the thrills of an American Police Interceptor experience with a difference.
There is an expression that ‘If you cannot get to me' then 'I shall get to you’ which is what this appeal is about as many of those we support suffer from one or more if not all of the following; pain, nausea, fatigue or breathlessness which affects what they can comfortably do.
Play the universal language of childhood
Play is the universal language of childhood and the time and opportunity to play is every child’s right. The role and value of play increases proportionately when a child is made more vulnerable through illness or disability.
When a child is diagnosed with an illness or condition likely to considerably shorten their lifespan, there are many challenges as well as new and frightening experiences that both the child and the child’s family will inevitably face.
Our ‘we get to you’ road trip is a ‘no brainer’ and, surprising those diagnosed with a serious or terminal illness with a paw patrol visit works in a way that no drug or medicine could ever hope to achive.
